RESURRECTION

Synopsis

Dir: Eugenio Polgovsky. Mexico, 2016. 93 min

The waterfall of El Salto de Juanacatlán, in Jalisco, used to be known as the "Mexican Niagara,” owing to its striking beauty and ecological riches. When an industrial corridor was established across the Santiago River, this natural idyll became heavily polluted. Today, as these poisonous waters contaminate everything in their path, fishermen and farmers struck down by illness witness the disappearance of their world. In Resurrection, one family fights for survival, risking their lives to pursue the dream of the return of a lost Eden. The river’s destiny carries the fate of the village, and of humanity itself.
